Welcome

Alongside our shepherd hut holidays, we also host a diverse range of Forest School learning sessions for children of all ages.

These sessions take place within our native woodland and capture all aspects of our natural environment into these learning opportunities.

We currently offer a collaborative monthly session with the local children's group, Bairn Banter and we do also take private bookings for individual/group session bookings, as well as birthday parties and other events.

So what is a Forest School?

In a ‘nutshell’ a Forest School is a child-centred approach to learning.  This holistic approach to learning offers a wealth of opportunities and experiences which support children’s play, exploration, physical development, cognitive and emotional wellbeing and encourages their innate ability to problem solve and assess risk.  Forest School sessions also develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on experiences and learner lead planning and evaluation processes within a natural setting.  A Forest School takes place outdoors, typically in a woodland or natural environment which allows the attendees to develop a lifelong relationship between the learner and their surrounding natural world.

A Forest School classroom is one with no walls!  The sky is our ceiling, the ground layer is our carpet and the trees and are our walls.  The sessions operate outdoors, and throughout all the seasons.  This allows us to develop a deeper connection to our elements as we experience the weather and how to compensate for it during our sessions.
